Kunsthal Mechelen is een genereus huis voor hedendaagse kunst dat zich uitstrekt over verschillende locaties in Mechelen, zowel binnen als in de publiek ruimte.

Als veelzijdig kunstenhuis biedt Kunsthal Mechelen een veilig onderkomen voor vele stemmen en gezichten. Wisselende constellaties van kunstenaars, curatoren, denkers en collectieven brengen het huis tot leven in een programma dat zich niet laat beperken tot één vast artistiek kader. In overleg met een adviesraad worden richtingen aangewezen en nieuwe en vertrouwde stemmen aangebracht: jong en ervaren, lokaal en internationaal, meer of minder professioneel. Ze worden fair verloond en met aandacht en zorg ondersteund. 

Kunsthal Mechelen is open, beweeglijk, gemengd. Het programma is flexibel en ongebonden aan vooropgestelde formats. Het is gelaagd en doorbreekt verwachtingspatronen. Het is polyamoureus en eigenzinnig; het beweegt en transformeert mee op de cadans van een veranderende maatschappij en kunstenveld. De werking wil kunst tonen die de wereld bevraagt, onderzoekt en verbeeldt in al haar complexiteit. Ze wil spannende, vernieuwende - en ook kritische - perspectieven brengen op leven en maatschappij, in dialoog met de stad en haar bewoners.

Kunsthal Mechelen wil een gastvrije ontmoetingsruimte zijn met oog voor lokale ontwikkelingen.

Kunsthal Mechelen is a generous space for contemporary art that extends across various locations throughout Mechelen, both indoors and in public areas.

As a multi-faceted art house, Kunsthal Mechelen offers a haven to a myriad of voices and faces. Formations of artists, curators, thinkers and collectives bring the house to life in a program that refuses to be confined to a singular artistic framework. In consultation with an advisory committee, orientations are redefined, welcoming both new and familiar voices – young and experienced, local and international, more and less established. Fair compensation, care and support are provided for all contributors.

Kunsthal Mechelen is open, agile, mixed. The program stands for flexibility, depth, and a departure from fixed formats, challenging established patterns of expectation. It is polyamorous and unpredictable; it moves and transforms to the cadence of a changing society and art field. The institution seeks to show art that questions, researches, and imagines the world in all of its complexity. It wants to bring compelling, innovative – yet also critical - perspectives on life and society, engaging in dialogue with the city and its inhabitants.
